"Every parting is a form of death, as every reunion is a type of heaven." -Tryon Edwards
I know I am inactive, and I am very happy clyde is taking the effort to update the blog regularly, so at least it keeps people reading and checking everyday.
A new set of administrators have been promoted to keep the guild going, and regarding the issues of members misbehaving I will try to settle them as much as I can. Please note that I have prohibited the expulsion of members by the administrators because they may not know the entire story. Anyway, good to see new members flowing in still, and wish all if the PSLE people the best of luck in getting into their desired schools.
Regarding the outing, it's still on, please MSN me to confirm your attendance.

Good news, the LDX Academy is up and running, ready to turn on the tap of talent to be filtered into LDX after intense drilling and training. Just laid the foundation for one of my findings, Golden Fighter, who can as of now 1hc fairly decently.
Be sure to visit the blog!

Okay, it's no secret that LDX is semi-dead. Wayne's off to attend to his O Levels next year
(Edit by Wayne: I don't have 'O' levels), I won't be spared either. But tell you guys what. There's a method of studying which I used to employ before my 3 years of academic slump after the PSLE which allows me to relax for almost every exam, giving me plenty of time to unwind and entertain myself, by studying everything in advance and occasionally looking through my stuff. I've been using my sub-accounts most of the time, but this will change from next week onwards.
I've been approached for advice from some people (confidentiality beckons) on whether to quit or not. But before you make any rash decisions over the half truths about the majority of us being inactive and no one being there at the wheel of the ship that is LDX, hear me out.
Consider the following:
If you don't leave, I'm very sure Wayne'll be immensely grateful. In the unlikely event of him not being so, I'll put in a word.
These kind of situations are a litmus test, as to whether a guild is truly united or plainly a bunch of haphazardly mashed sand.
Not to gloat and brag or anything, but no guild as of now has the ability to present itself and truly be an organised and efficient conglomerate as we do.
Not many have the foresight and vision, nor the linguistic proficiency.
I leave you with this rhetorical question.
Do you want to be the one who stayed on, pushed on and fought valiantly while being confronted with uncertainty and shrouded in a smog of adversity, who showed unquestionable loyalty to what his guild believed in and fought for, who carried the torch of his guild's purpose when his comrades were off course and distracted by other pressing matters?
Or do you want to be just another member who chose to flee and desert us, who revelled in the good and fun while lacking the will to stare difficulty in the face and overcome it, fearing that his guild was done for, choosing to find another leader and ditching Majesty and the rest of LDX exactly at the time we needed you most?
Choose wisely.
It is in these trying moments where we see who you truly are.
No one will be spared and pardoned from crises like this.
Evasion is no solution; it is merely the utter refusal to face the problem upfront and dispatch of it.
As a guildmate, I strongly wish for you to stay on and fight alongside us.
As someone who's rendering advice, I sincerely ask you to follow your heart, for no one can disrupt your thoughts and alter your ultimate decision.
It's your call.

Gear Dependence- A Thesis
Thursday, November 19, 2009
I've finally decided to bring this burning issue into the spotlight in the form of a thesis after witnessing first-hand how gear dependence has been crippling practical progress in all foundational aspects such as countering and anticipation.
To address the problem more effectively, I will now go into giving a definition of the term "gear dependence" and then delve deep into the root of the cause, be a namer and a shamer and impress my thoughts upon you.
"Gear Dependence", as its name glaringly suggests, is simply dependence on gears. However, it remains a very vague term so that there will be varying degrees of severity exhibited in this one term. Ranging from "last-ditch inglorious spamming" to "spoiling the fun and putting its owner into an undeserved bad light", this a problem which affects both higher ranking players and greenhorns. Doesn't it really ruin your day when some inferior player happily confronts you, jamming repeatedly on the configuration that would activate his flashy @ Cash Gear and send you careening in a hapless fashion into the depths of god-knows-where? Of course, there'll be players such as our very own Majesty who would stomach this and put on a tolerant front, but for mere mortals like you and I, it's way beyond our capacity. The atmosphere is worsened when the players blows his own trumpet and speaks in a prissy manner. Ah, the shamelessness.
Now for the cause. Dear old Asiasoft knows full well that perhaps its only source of income, @ Cash, will be latched on, leeched onto and milked dry like anyone's business. How would they know? It's human nature! Anyone would resort to the fastest and easiest method to get their act up and running in this perilous world that is GASea. For the average beginner, the only plausible way to get wins is to purchase gears. Just scour the entire beginner's channel and eavesdrop; I'll stand corrected. Now that's forgivable. Though I pride myself on having earned my place with nothing but my own talent and innovating from what I see, I can fully understand the drive to better equip to kill. That said, it results in players of today succumbing to sneaky, underhand manoeuvers we would have brushed aside without breaking a sweat. And that's what I aim to rectify by re-establishing the LDX Academy, through imparting the fundamental package of skills to players who show that bit of promise. Guild interests aside, that's the least I can do to alleviate the situation at hand where gearless players are deemed an unholy abomination.
We move on to the pressing issue of high-rankers draping a veil over their inferiority with gears. For some reason, their abilities wane as their prestige goes up. The usual suspects like PK Ah Zai and just about the whole flippant SS fully epitomise this trend, especially latter who reserves an uncanny knack of securing priorities to the newest unreleased gears. And they're damned proud of it.
On a grim note, there's very much nothing that can be done to these individuals. But we cant ake comfort in the fact that we have brilliant players who are unparalleled in both fundamental skills and gear mastery. So, kudos to the brave people who let their "natural" skills do the talking and stick to their roots.
There goes a saying, 识时务者为俊杰, basically meaning those who grasp the opportune moments to adapt will prevail. I must clarify that gears are in no way a substitute for prowess, at least not for now. When the dawn of a new age which will see the GetAmpedSea we know degenerate into a GA Japan, where countering is cast aside and exclusive to a sparse group of players who still keep it real, players like myself will be routed into fading away in a forced surrender and seclusion. Evolution is cruel.
The question is, when the imposing tirade of gears sweep GASea and gears finally threaten to displace true skill once and for all, will you be the rock and stand fast?

To-Do List for these closing months of 2009:
1. Talent Scout:
Report: Have already compiled a shortlist, will continue to monitor them to consider eligibility to admission. Standard seems to have dropped though, courtesy of whole dependence on gears (which will be addressed in my next post).
BlazeMajesty is under the impression that GetAmped yields no more talented players that warrant his attention and investment in. That's because he simply does not have a keen eye for talent as much as I do and didn't bother to consult me. Wayne, there's no dearth of talent; you're just not searching hard enough. I'll be hoping to add a few promising individuals to our ranks with intense scouring through all the Channels, beginner to channel one. Fingers crossed that Majesty isn't right to make that sweeping statement.
2. Video-taking:
Report: Have in mind a subject, commenced filming November 17th.
I'm looking at a 2 minute or so video on one of you guys here in LDX, however I'm spoilt for choice on who to feature in it. You may have seen my countering videos and a few others, I know it's disgraceful, I promise this one'll be a huge hit, provided Majesty's willing to exhibit it in the videos section....
3. LDX Academy:
I know this little brainchild of mine had failed miserably on my defection, but I'm all the more determined to get it right. If you're interested in participating (helping out in imparting skills etc.) or even so much as to ask for tips and pointers, this is for you. Once I have a good talk with Majesty, everything will be in place. This is essentially for training future LDX members, to consolidate their strong points and strengthen their weaknesses. They will not be a part of LDX, however, while being in this academy.
Signing off,
Clyde

"When the silences are no longer awkward, you know you're around friends."
Is this cool? Made by BlazeJIN using android heads, how hilarious!
In case some of you have forgotten about the outing details, please go check the outing navigation. If your name is not there and you are coming, please inform me, so at least I have an idea of how much money to bring on that day.
Anyway, my exams are over already, and that means we're going to do more serious things. Combo video filming has resumed 2 days ago and is still in progress. We still need roughly 30 seconds for Praveer's video, and some refilming on the shadow servant part (It was really laggy).
Recruitment will still be closed since I don't really see suitable players around now, plus opening the doors will only invite some hypocrites in.

"
What a Wayne in JIN clothing." -BlazeAxiom. when I was in JIN's account.
Please note that if you have SSes of LDX members sprouting vulgarities in lobby, I will not do anything about it.
Recently there has been this "name hack" flying around, allowing people to type a random IGN and make it talk, and this sort of manipulation has been noted by the guild. I would like to stress that any sort of mischief related to spamming vulgarities in lobby is strongly unrelated to us in any way.
Anyway, back to informal posting. A few more days before exams are over, and I login-ed a couple of times to check out how the guild was doing. Seems pretty decent with all those rank 1s, quite amazed by how fast people can rush through their points.
Anyway, there's really nothing much to say now, pretty busy with lots of stuff so, have a nice day all.

Alright, BlazeMajesty is grimly going about "retrenching" certain members in LDX at his discretion. We're all tensed up and the air's a tad electric and solemn, so I hope I can somewhat bring about something fresh to us with this hopefully novel brainstorm of mine.
Attention-Dissipation Skin Proposal
This idea was originally devised by Chelsea FC for their goalkeeper. They claim that it's capable of giving opponents a conception of the wearer, in this case, you who may use this skin, to be imposing and serves to momentarily distract the opponent, giving you those vitally needed seconds to make your move. I'm looking for a brighter hue of orange, though. The eventuality of you falling prey to the illusion effect (having your concentration dispelled) may be dealt with by, say, focusing more on your foe than yourself. This concept is most likely to pay dividends for nippy, pacy players, further adding to your razzle-dazzle fashion. The skin will be formatted in the same design as its predecessors.
That just about sums up my first post on this blog with kind permission granted by Majesty for letting me contribute further to LavaDeceptionX.
